Zircon is one of the four December birthstones, and also the 4th wedding anniversary stone. Zodiac sign: Sagittarius (23 Nov - 22 Dec) & Capricorn (23 Dec - 19 Jan).
The name ‘zircon’ originates from the Arabic word ‘zarqun’ or Persian ‘zargun’, and was famous throughout the centuries for its lustre and fire. Zircon is also known as ‘starlite’. The natural colour of zircon can be clear, yellow, brown or green-brown, however it is often heat treated to draw out the deep blue colouration.
According to Gem lore, zircon is believed to provide wisdom. Also it is said that if the gemstone’s colour becomes dull it may mean that there is danger coming!
